Focus on Canada India relations during visit by former President of India, His Excellency, Dr. Abdul Kalam - April 17-20 

TORONTO, April 10 /CNW/ - Next week, the Canada India Foundation (CIF) will host His Excellency, Dr. Abdul Kalam, former President of India (July 25, 2002 - July 25, 2007) on his first visit to Canada.

Dr. Kalam will visit Canada to attend the Canada India Foundation Gala Dinner on Friday April 18, 2008 at 6:45 p.m. at Liberty Grand in Toronto. He will join in presenting the first annual "CIF Chanchlani Global Indian Award," along with a donation of $50,000 to the award recipient's choice of charities. The donation is funded from a $1.5 million endowment established by the Canada India Foundation and the principal benefactor of the endowment, the Vasu Chanchlani Family. 

CIF will hold a media briefing to outline His Excellency, Dr. Kalam's visit, the award recipient and his credidenials, and to discuss the objectives of the Canada India Foundation.
