Tanti conferred Chanchlani Global India award 2009 PDF Print E-mail

Tulsi Tanti, known as the "wind man of India", has been conferred with a prestigious award in Toronto in for his pioneering work globally to promote non-conventional sources of energy.

Tanti, the founder of Pune-based Suzlon Energy which the world's fifth's largest supplier of wind turbines, received the CIF Chanchlani Global India award 2009, instituted by Canada India Foundation, from Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of India.

Congratulating Tanti Mr Ahluwalia said the award recognises his pioneering contribution towards the re-emergence of India on the global scene.

He said Tanti has put India on the forefront of global efforts to harness renewable sources of energy and his company commands over 10.5 per cent of the global market share.
