Indo-Canadian remember Mumbai victims PDF Print E-mail

Toronto (PTI): A large number of Indo-Canadians here held a vigil to remember the victims of Mumbai terror attacks.

Over 50 Indo-Canadian Associations including Canada India Foundation, Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce, Panorama India, gathered at Toronto International Convention Centre in Mississauga on day and offered their tributes by lighting candles in the honour of the victims.

The Mumbai terror attack left 183 people killed and over 300 injured.

Consul General of India Preeti Saran, Canadian Federal Minister of Citizenship, Immigration, and Multiculturalism Jason Kenney, MP and former premier of British Columbia Ujjal Dosanjh and Ontario Minister for Small Scale Industries Harinder Takhar were among those who paid tributes to the victims.

A rally was also organized on this occasion to express solidarity and support of the community towards the victims which saw the participation of multi-faith and multi-ethnic associations including the Canadian Council for Israel and Jewish Advocacy (CIJA) and Canadian Jewish Congress Ontario Region and Canadian Jewish Political Affairs Committee (CJPAC).

President of the Indo-Canadian Chamber of Commerce Asha Luthra, Cliff Rajkumar from Art of Living, MP Jim Karygiannis, President of the Canadian Jewish Congress Bernie Farber and President of the Indian National Overseas Congress Jay Banerjei also offered their tributes.
