Toronto (PTI): Planning Commission Deputy Chairperson Montek Singh Ahluwalia has said that India also looks for transfer of technology from Canada in conventional and renewable sources of energy along with equipment and investment.
"India is not just looking for equipment and investment but also transfer of technology," Ahluwalia said on Friday while addressing top executives of Canadian and Indian companies at a bilateral energy conference organised by India Canada Foundation.
"India offers vast opportunities for collaboration in research and development to Canadian companies and they can contribute in improving economic and technical efficiencies in the field of nuclear, solar, wind energy and bio-fuels," he said.

Talking about the nuclear trade between the two countries, Ahluwalia said "Inter-government nuclear agreement sets legal frame work where the government plays a dominant role, elsewhere that was no obstruction in establishing commercial relationship would be with private companies".
Earlier, Prime Minister Stephen Harper in a message said that Canada and India enjoy an excellent commercial relationship, which is continually strengthened by an active Indian community.
