Dr. Atul Tolia, Canadian citizen of Indian origin, a medical
graduate of the University of Baroda, India, Fellow of the Royal
College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, specialist in Diagnostic
Radiology as certified by the American Board of Radiology, former
academic teaching staff of the University of Toronto in Diagnostic
Imaging practicing in Neuro, Cardiac, Vascular and Interventional
Radiology and currently in private practice of Radiology has been
residing at Toronto, Ontario for the past 27 years.
A few of his contributions in the service of global, Canadian and Indo-Canadian communities over the past two decades include serving as the Founder President of Jain Social Group Toronto, the 100th group of the international federation with more than 60,000 members worldwide, founding member of the boards of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Canada (Institute of Indian Culture), non-profit Indo-Canadian Cultural Club and chartering of Canadian National Organization of Physicians from India offices at Ottawa.
He has served as a member of the group of leaders of global faith and
religious groups seeking achievement of consensus for peace being a
signatory delegate of the resolution passed to set up a United Nations
of World Religions body at 100th anniversary meeting of the World
Parliament of Religions held at Chicago, Illinois. He has served as the
Volunteer Chair for the salute to National Cinema of India at 19th
Toronto International Film Festival and continues to serve as a Patron
for the past 14 years.
He has served as Founding Member of the Steering
and Advisory Committees for the music and cultural Rhythms of India
festivals at the Harbourfront Centre, Toronto to follow Peter
Gabriel's world music and dance festivals.
He has served as a member of the Campaign Strategy Group for the
election of Her Worship, Barbara Hall, Past Mayor of the city of
Toronto. He has served for several years as a member of the Advisory
Board of the Indo-Canada Chamber of commerce and continues to assist
the chamber in building up of business and trade relations between
India and Canada including participation in several chamber delegations
to India at PBD conclaves at New Delhi. He is a member of the
Canada-India Business Council. His current interests are with the
emerging global fields of Knowledge Based Economies.
He is a current member serving for the past six years at the board at
World Literacy of Canada, a non-profit Canadian charitable organization
serving Canada and South Asia from Canada for the past 51 years for the
upliftment of women and children through literacy and community
development programmes, especially through World Literacy of Canada
offices in India located at Ganga Mahal, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. |
