Bhim D. Asdhir moved to Toronto from India in 1980. Graduating from the University of Waterloo in 1987 with a double major in Actuarial Science and Computer Science, Mr. Asdhir was a top student, and was awarded the prestigious Descartes Award in Mathematics. Following his graduation Bhim joined Watson Wyatt, an Actuarial Consulting firm based in Toronto, Ontario where he spent 10 years specializing in the successful set up and management of small insurance companies for large clients.

Mr. Asdhir founded Excel Funds Management Inc. (Excel Funds) in 1996. Excel Funds is a niche mutual fund company specializing in emerging markets, which manages the Excel India Fund, Excel China Fund, Excel Chindia, Excel Emerging Europe Fund, Excel Income and Growth Fund, Excel Money Market Fund and Excel India Trust. The Excel Funds over the years have won many awards and are ranked among the best performing funds in Canada. Most recently the Excel China Fund received the Lipper award for 2007 Asia Ex-Japan Equity.

A widely recognized authority on the emerging markets, Mr. Asdhir is quoted globally by the media and has been published by several prominent Canadian business publications. Bhim is often called upon to appear as a subject matter expert on respected business television and radio. In June of 2007,  the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce awarded Mr. Asdhir the distinction of Male Entrepreneur of the Year.
